A Dream

I'm in the woods..It's dark..The trees are unnatural...They have no leaves..The bark is peeling..The bushes are dried up and thorny.. They bend slightly and move even though I feel no wind..The shadows are unnaturally long, the light itself is wrong...All wrong..The mist and fog is all around, creeping.. Yet I can see where I'm going. Something tells me I shouldn't go there, but I can't stop my feet from walking.  There's a cleared path ahead of me, going up a hill..I don't want to go there, but I keep going..I feel heavy..This place is so wrong...There's someone here. At the hilltop. A silhouette..a...person? It's not Him, too short, too human... They turn towards me. They have no face, no features.. They stretch out their arm towards me..Inviting.. I feel compelled to go...I take another step..
NO. MUST FIGHT. I SHOULD NOT GO. NO NO NO.

And then I wake up. This dream happens every night. And every night I get a step closer to the man (?) on the hilltop.

  1. If you cannot stop yourself, attempt to put barriers in your way. If the bushes are already moving, see if you can get them to grow into your path so you can't go any further. Make the trees fall and block your way. Make the ground open up or a flash flood sweep you away. Create a barrier of fire. When you are dreaming, you are not just the part of you that is conscious. The entire dreamscape is a part of your mind that can be controlled. If you do not control it yourself, the invader does. It's up to you to regain control and use it to your advantage.

  2. So it's the invader pushing himself into MY head and not dragging ME into some other reality? So I can control the environment too...I just keep getting closer and closer and closer..I have to stop...

  3. So long as you continue to fight reaching him, I would interpret it as you still being within your own headspace. Once you reach him, that might change though. So do whatever you can to prevent it, even if you have to stab yourself in the leg to make yourself wake up. If you do manage to control your environment, you could even attempt a sneak attack on him by having something come up on him from behind while he's focused on you. Since you are not yet adept enough to break free of him "physically" I won't suggest you try transforming your own body, but just know that it is possible to do so.

  4. Are you sure that this is not Him playing a trick with you? Placing this other into your mind? Fighting a mortal is one thing. Fighting the Faceless is another. Dreamland or not. Not that I care of course, aside from the fact that once again the Faceless seems to be a step ahead of me.

  5. @Mystery: So..Pain in a dream causes one to awaken physically? I don't think I'm going to try anything but stop myself from getting closer to him. I don't want to try an attack unless I have to. He obviously has more experience with this than I do, whoever the hell he is.. I really wish I had any sort of idea. Anything.
@Eternity: I'm not sure of anything. I don't know how this all works. I'm in a battle with some guy in my head, who is trying very, very hard to get me to touch him, to come near enough to him so that he can touch me. I have a distinct feeling that would be very, very bad. I'm not sure if it's mortal or something Slendy is doing.

  6. Anything really that you can use to shock yourself awake can be used in-dream; pain is just very convenient in that way. So whack yourself in the leg and you could wake up with a leg cramp, but at least it wakes you up.

I hate to say it, but could be Executor. I mean, he doesn't always give warning of his intent to invade someone's dreams. You could try asking on his blog, not that he ever gives much of an answer.

  7. Hmm...So..if you die or get kidnapped in your dream, that is what happens in 'real life' also? Man, I'm so behind on all of this..I never ever thought I'd be having to fight off Him and his..people..in my own head.

Executor...I hope not. But perhaps I should keep a closer eye on his blog, just in case..

  8. Dying... it depends on who you talk to and the circumstances. I've died in dreams before and I'm still kicking, but that was just a dream, not an Encounter with something malevolent. Getting kidnapped by some supernatural entity in your dream wouldn't mean you'd been really kidnapped, however, I wouldn't want to guess how much power the thing would gain over you psychically. It would certainly give it a foothold in your mind and possibly more influence over your actions or at the very least the ability to see and hear whatever you do.

  9. Mystery, just a thought. Are you in the slightest bit afraid that the advice you give to Hawk here will upset this..Whomever it is, in his head? That they will come to you in revenge?

  10. Eternity, considering Executor has said he can't get into my head, I'm not too concerned. If it is Executor, I'll no doubt hear about minding my own business on his blog and then we'll know for sure what is going on. If it's not, well, I've managed to turn other things away from my headspace over the years. Even if I were not an experienced dreamer, I have other tactics I can fall back on if something meaner than Executor takes an interest in crawling into my head. And since I've decide to stop sitting on my laurels so to speak, shutting up at this point would just be the last ditch efforts of a coward.

  11. No, shutting up now would only be cowardly, you are right. I was just wondering if the thought had crossed your mind, since not all attacks have to be in dreams.

  12. @Eternity, I have physical defenses up to keep any nasties away while I'm "indisposed" by sleep or ignorance of danger, and I add to these as time permits. Nothing can get onto the property or into the house (unless it is extremely powerful or brought in by someone), and the genii loci would warn me if something did invade. I have "handicap" of not being particularly claurvoyant, but I am extremely clairaudient and sensitive to changing energy. So I know when something is wrong long before it presents itself.

  13. Good, Good. I would certainly hate for this man (?) to attempt anything. Though right now, he seems more intent on making sure I don't find Hawk before the Faceless does.
